More Than Music is a group of music fans, organizers, designers, photographers, and artists who have come together to support the musicians in Tokyo’s diverse live scene.
Our aim is to support the music by creating high quality events that are unforgettable for all that get involved and supporting talented musicians in creating ways to get their music heard by a new audience. We run three different series, check them below.
Battle of the Bands
The Battle of the Bands series are multi-show tournaments designed to bring together high quality bands from multiple genres in a fun competition where the winners are decided by the audience.
The competition is comprised of 6 different shows followed by a finale in which the previous winners are pitted against each other to crown a champion. All bands that win a round will have their music included on a joint CD, and the winner of the entire competition with walk away with a large cash prize.
Come out and support your favorite bands in their quest for prizes and glory as they struggle to be crowned champion.
East Meets West
East meets West is a musical series designed to bring the international community together. The event features 4 highly talented musical groups and the bands will come from both the Japanese and International scenes.
More than music, these events create a sense of community. We make sure to dedicate time to social activities including raffles and games to help each other get to know one another. Food from different parts of the world will also be featured, so check the finer details for each event here.
Speciality Events
Outside of the major series that we put on, we at More Than Music enjoy trying new things and creating different types of events. We'd also like to introduce some of the better events going on in Tokyo. Check them out here.
